Lanny ‘Lenny’ R. Jakubowicz, 73

Lanny “Lenny” R. Jakubowicz, age 73, of Woodstock, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Nov. 29, 2023.

He was born on April 22, 1950, in Chicago to Ray and Yola (Hurgon) Jakubowicz. He graduated from Wells High School in 1968 in Chicago. In 1972 he met the love of his life, Linda; they were married on Feb. 9, 1974.

Lenny and Linda were blessed to raise their family in Woodstock, where they shared a wonderful life. Lenny worked for 37 years as a mail carrier for the USPS and was an active member of the Woodstock Moose Lodge. He enjoyed traveling, bowling, or taking a cruise in his Corvette. You’d often find him enjoying a cold beer with his sons while watching the White Sox or a Bears game. Family was everything to Lenny; he especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sport activities. He was incredibly fortunate to have wonderful friendships throughout his life. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda, and three sons, Brian (Amanda) Jakubowicz, Lee (Jacqueline) Jakubowicz, and Kevin (Erin) Jakubowicz. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Haven, Jackson, Tyson, Justin, Wilson, Logan, Brogan, Caden, Luke, and Evelyn.

Lenny is also survived by his sisters, Linda (Richard) Banas and Lenise (the late Donald) Adams, and his brother, Ray (Lynda) Jakubowicz. He is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, 1211 N. Seminary Ave., Woodstock. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 Lincoln Ave., Woodstock. Interment will follow in the Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Woodstock.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Church in Woodstock.
