John Irvin Lillie Sr.

John Irvin Lillie Sr.,  88, Brentwood, Tenn., fomerly of Woodstock, died Thursday, Aug. 31, 2017.

He was born June 2, 1929, to William H.T. and Helen Dutson Lillie in Camden, N.J.

He attended Temple University in Philadelphia and served in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Franklin, Tenn. He was a vice president of Oscar Mayer Foods and general manager of its subsidiary, Claussen Pickle Co. During his career with Claussen, he served in many leadership positions. He was the first recipient of the Harold Buschkopf Community Service Award and was named Citizen of the Year by both the Woodstock Lions Club and St. Mark’s Masonic Lodge, Woodstock. He served as a member of the Board of Governors of Centegra Health System, chairman of Friends of McHenry County College Foundation and was a founding director of American Community Bank.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Joan Lillie; four sons, John (Sandra), Jeffrey, James (Lisa) and Joseph (Christine); eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
