Donald F. Hasse

Donald F. Hasse, 85, of Woodstock, died Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Centegra Hospital-McHenry after a short illness.

He was born Sept. 20, 1931, to Fred and Alvina (Salge) Hasse in Schaumburg.

Don was a proud U. S. Army veteran who served his country in the Korean War.

A resident of Woodstock for the past 11 years, Don formerly resided in Huntley, where he farmed more than 120 acres for many years. As well as farming, he was employed by the Huntley School District for 15 years, performing inside maintenance and driving a school bus. After “retiring,” he drove a truck for Freund International for seven years.

He worked many hours performing restoration on his Farmall tractor. An avid fisherman, Don enjoyed traveling and will be remembered as a hardworking man who loved his family and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Survivors include: five children, Charles (Kim) Jones, Edward (Denise) Jones, Ronald (Donna) Jones, David (Andrae) Hasse and Lynda (Chris) Oliver; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty (Willard) Schoppe and Joyce Cutler; an aunt, Gladys Netzel; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of friends and service of celebration of his life were held Aug. 27 at Justen Funeral Home & Crematory, McHenry.
