The Marian Central Catholic High School boys basketball team won against Montini Catholic High School in Lombard Friday, but Marian Central coach Curtis Price said he was disappointed with his team's performance in spite of the 64-52 final score.
"We didn't play at our best," Price said. "We played kind of sluggish. I thought we would come out with more intensity."
Marian Central beat the Broncos by more than 30 points the last time they played. Price was not satisfied with the 12-point victory this time.
"Each and every time you step on the court, you have to prove that you are better," he said. "You give it all you've got."
The 'Canes' overall record moved to 14-7 with the win, and Price is working on teaching the team how to process their new-found success.
"Our (Suburban Christian) conference record is 4-1," he said. "We've never been there before. We need to know how to handle success."
Price's frustration is only because he knows what his team is capable of.
"I'm happy with the way we're playing," he said, "but we need to get over the mental hurdle, and we need to show how good we are."
The Hurricanes will travel to Aurora to play at Aurora Central Catholic High School at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3.
