Mildred R. 'Mickie' Walters

Mildred R. "Mickie" Walters, 86, Woodstock, and formerly of Union, died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at Centegra Hospital-Woodstock.

She was born Nov. 28, 1923, in De Smet, S.D., to Robert and Bertha (Nothnagel) Driver.

She married Glenn "Pepper" Walters Nov. 9, 1945, at Marengo United Methodist Church.

She was raised in Marengo and was a resident of Union for more than 50 years.

She was once active at St. John's United Church of Christ in Union and also worked as a Pink Lady at St. Joseph's Hospital in Belvidere. She loved to crochet and macramˇ.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Robert) Huffar, Austin, Texas; two sons, David (Patricia) Walters, Marengo, and Richard Walters, Belvidere; four grandchildren, Michelle and Roger Huffar, Michael Walters and Jennifer (Alan) McCormick; and three great-grandchildren, Brendan and Callie Walters and Andrew McCormick.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Alice Zickuhr and Lorraine Johnson; and a brother, Robert Driver.

The visitation was Jan. 24 at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, Marengo. The funeral was Jan. 25 at the funeral home. Interment was in Marengo City Cemetery.
